Corona Virus

Is Corona Virus a Boon or a Bane?

For the past few months, there is only one thing that everyone speaks about – the Covid 19 Corona Virus Pandemic. The Covid 19 or Corona Virus which originated in China quickly spread all over the world. While some nations underestimated the virus, some others took necessary measures immediately. In any case, the virus has brought almost every country to its knees. But there is a silver lining behind every cloud.

While the world stays home in terror and lockdowns, we look at whether Corona Virus is a Boon or a Bane? Just like every coin has two sides, everything in the world has some advantages and some disadvantages, similarly, our Corona Virus also has some pros and some cons.

Corona Virus effects on Nature

The Covid 19 Coronavirus is strangely favoring nature. With all the people sitting at their homes, nature is starting to get a boost. There are numerous instances all over the world where nature is taking back its spaces. Various animals are spotted on the roads. And birds are taking a free flight in the sky. We are breathing fresh air after years. The pollution levels have dropped by themselves. And on the nature front, everything seems to be great and glorious.

Economic Depression

All the countries around the world are facing the imminent recession due to the lockdowns and the corona crisis. With the industrial sector and manufacturing completely closed, and no demand for unnecessary products. The economies have come to a standstill. The future is unpredictable and uncertain.

What is working?

The sectors like food, finance and health care have gained a boost in this pandemic. For companies where physical presence is unnecessary work goes on as usual. Organizations dealing in manufacturing products and where physical presence is necessary are facing the burnt from the lockdowns. The worst and most affected sector due to the corona Virus is Travel. However, the lockdown is boon for the retail vendors selling the necessary groceries.

Life and Lifestyle

While the number of deaths all over the world keeps piling high up constantly. We have now learned our lessons about personal hygiene and safety. With washing hands the primary thing of importance. We have learned to stay cleaner more and more. We have also learned that home-cooked food is the best for our bodies. And that the outside food was causing us some harm. We have now learned to stay fit and strong, with workouts and regular exercises, which was a neglected part of our life. We are now saving so much of our time from commuting to work and back. This has given us some time for the introspection of our actions and making proper and informed decisions.

With Covid 19 we are also learning to take care of our elders. And most importantly we are spending so much family time together, which we would otherwise be spending on the work way from our loved ones. Covid 19 has indeed taught us to slow down and experience every moment in life.

Necessities and Unnecessary

With Covid 19 Pandemic we have now realized how little we need to survive in this world. Things that were considered necessary earlier are no longer a necessity right now. The virus has indeed snapped us out of our dreams and made us realize our overspending. Things like going out to cinemas, shopping malls, concerts, bars, hotels, and restaurants that were an important part of our lives are no longer felt as necessary. We are itching to be out of our houses, but still, we have understood that these things aren’t a necessity.

Poverty and unemployment

With consistent lockdowns all over the world, poverty and unemployment levels are about to rise. The coming recession will be a very difficult time for us to generate wealth. The developed nations have predicted a negative growth rate which means losses for almost all the businesses. The Corona Virus will increase the divide in society. The poor will become poorer. And the rich will get richer. In these times the role of governments around the world will be of paramount importance.

Travel Industry

You might think that the Corona Virus Pandemic is without any doubt a bane for the travel industry. And to some extent you are correct. But just think about all the tourist spots. For once in so many years they are breathing free. This lockdown time will give them a fresh start and some time to replenish. To us, it gives some time to introspect and think over our traveling habits and how much we have exploited the planet.

Animals and Wildlife

Most of us after staying at home for just a few months have realized that keeping animals in captivity is so so cruel. And now we look at the zoo culture displeasingly. The lockdowns have opened our eyes (at least for some of us) towards the harsh cruelty we were doing towards the animals and wildlife. As humans have retreated from tourism places like wildlife sanctuaries or protected wildlife reserves the wildlife gets all the space and freedom that it needs.

Faith in doctors and medical experts is restored

This pandemic has restored our faiths in doctors. We now believe medical experts more than ever. Instead of believing in home remedies or advice from other people, we now only believe in trusted sources like WHO. This faith is unlikely to be altered in the future too.
