Google Chrome has changed rapidly since its introduction in the year 2008. And it’s because of this browser that some of us have become this much familiar with the internet. It’s very simple to use and it runs very smoothly in almost any configuration. People who use this browser get very pleased because of its smooth Tab Browsing interface. And there is no surprise that it has more than 65% of the market share in providing browsing services all over the globe. It has some amazing features that can’t be matched by any other browser on the market. So, it’s very important to know how you can utilize this amazing application to its fullest. But there are some settings and features that we don’t need but are still there. And today we will talk about those Google Chrome settings that every user should change right away. So, let’s just start:
Stop Software Reporter Tool:
You may have noticed that sometimes your computer slows down exponentially without running any apps. Well, The Software Reporter Tool (software_reporter_tool.exe) can be the reason behind this. It is an executable file which scans your computer for applications which could create problem in Google Chrome’s working process. But in doing so it takes way too much memory which in turn slows down your computer. So, it’s very important to shut down this application if you want to avoid this. You can do this by going to your Google Chrome advanced settings option. In there you will find an option named continue running background apps when Google Chrome is closed just turn this off. Now you don’t have to face this problem again.
Control What Goes To Google:
When you open Google Chrome settings the very first option that you see is- sync and Google services. Google uses this option to get as much user data as possible. However, Google uses this data to improve itself. For example, Google uses this provided data to fix spell errors, auto-fill suggestions, spot bugs, and many more things. But still, it’s your data and you should be able to control what you provide.
So, on this page, you will find a number of options each having its one policy. You can turn some of them off or on if you like.
Make your Browsing Data self-destructible:
Google has a very improved Artificial Intelligence which it uses to track your daily activity. And then it uses the gathered data to track your next activity. And it’s the same with Google Chrome it collects your search queries to know about yourself. Then after analyzing them for quite some time, it can predict what you will search next. So, it’s completely up to you how much information you feed Google.
For Example, You can commend Google to automatically erase your gathered data after a specific time. You can do this from the sync and Google services option on the settings page. In there you will find an option named control how much browsing history is used go there, and then click on Manage Activity option. On this page, you will find the option choose to delete automatically just go there and choose the option keep for 3 months. And that’s it your browsing data will be automatically deleted after this specific time.
Turn off irritating Notifications& Permissions:
Those days are long gone when websites were just a source of information now there is hardly anything that you can’t do online. And to do the stuff you want you to give access to your microphone, webcam, and location to many websites. And sometimes it can get very dirty for you as with those permissions anyone could hack into your computer. So, it’s very important to track these given accesses.
There is an option at Chrome settings from where you can track these permissions. From the Settings page go to the site settings and then click on view permissions option. Here you will find the list of individual sites and their permissions. Now from here, you can remove their permissions as you want. You can also turn off the notification options in this same way.
Sign Into Google Without Signing Into Chrome:
Some of you might have noticed that whenever you log in to your Google Account through Chrome you also get signed in into Google Chrome itself. Well, Google Chrome simply does this to sync your bookmarks, browsing history, and password which is initially a good thing. It helps you to access all your information from anywhere in the world. But there are many people who jump between phones, tablets, and computers a lot and don’t like to attract too much attention.
In this case, you can use the Google Chrome settings to restrict it from doing this. Just go to sync and Google services from Chrome settings and turn off Allow Chrome sign-in option. Now you can avoid getting signed in into Google whenever you access your Google services.
Access Your Favourite site more quickly:
Google Chrome is a very useful browser it is designed to provide the best browsing experience to its users. Chrome can manage multiple search engines and sites with ease, which means you can switch between your favorite sites in a matter of seconds.
You can activate this feature from the Manage search engine option on your Chrome settings. There you will find some search engines which are already listed, and you can simply add more from there. You just have to put the keyword, search engine name, and URL and you will be all set. Now if you want to search on your preferred site just type the keyword and then the search term you will get the results more easily.
So, as you can see from the above discussion Google Chrome really has some amazing hidden settings. And you can use these settings to simplify your user experience. So, just apply these settings yourself and see the results. But I bet that they will not disappoint you.
